Wello Lingolingo gave the UE Red Warriors their fifth straight win in UAAP Season 87 after his buzzer-beating shot against the Adamson Soaring Falcons.
Wello Lingolingo played hero once again for the UE Red Warriors, hitting the buzzer-beating shot to overcome the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 63-62, in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, October 6.
Trailing by a single point with less than 20 seconds left in the game, Nico Mulingtapang put up a tough fadeaway shot that clanged off the iron.
Lingolingo, however, managed to grab the rebound and put up a double-clutch shot over Joshua Yerro, which banked right in just as the buzzer expired.
This marked UE’s fifth straight win in Season 87, matching the team's longest winning streak in 10 years.
Before the game-winner, the Red Warriors only led once behind Lingolingo, who also drained a triple for a 53-52 lead.
Lingolingo finished with 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Precious Momowei had 14 markers and 11 boards, while Devin Fikes and Ethan Galang added 11 and 10, respectively, for UE.
Matthew Montebon led Adamson with 12 points, while Matthew Erolon added 11 baskets in the tough defeat.
