The FEU Lady Tamaraws grabbed their third win in UAAP Season 87 after firing past the still-winless UE Lady Warriors in straight sets.
The FEU Lady Tamaraws secured back-to-back wins in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament after sweeping the UE Lady Warriors, 25-23, 25-19, 25-20, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Wednesday, March 3.
Fresh off their five-set victory against the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Sunday, the Tamaraws ensured a cleaner victory this time around to improve to a 3-2 record in the standings.
In the third set, FEU distanced itself from UE, building its biggest lead at 20-14 behind the efforts of Gerzel Petallo, Mitzi Panangin and Alyzza Devosora.
It didn’t help as well for the Lady Warriors that they committed multiple errors in the frame—20 in total.
UE, though, showed some fight in them, cutting the lead to just two points at 19-21. But in the end, FEU proved to be too much as Petallo and Tin Ubaldo closed out the match with back-to-back points.
Devosora was hailed the Player of the Game with nine points on four attacks, three blocks, and two service aces.
Up next for the Lady Tamaraws will be the Adamson Lady Falcons on Saturday, March 8, still at the MOA Arena.
