La Salle Lady Spikers Shevana Laput and Angel Canino inadvertently collided early in Set 4 in their five-set win over the UST Golden Tigresses in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball.
Shevana Laput bared what led to her inadvertent collision with La Salle teammate Angel Canino early in Set 4 of their five-set victory over University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP Season 87 women's volley that resulted in the latter being rushed to the hospital right after the match.
Laput, who was among the offensive powerhouses for the Lady Spikers Saturday, March 29, said that Canino kept herself steady until the final rally before breaking down to the floor right after Amie Provido’s kill block on Reg Jurado.

Having been alongside Canino since the latter's Rookie-MVP campaign in Season 85, Laput was left in awe at how her good friend was able to power through despite everything.
“I had hit the ball and she was the one behind me to cover for me. But then, she had fallen and stayed on the floor, and I was still landing. So of course, my landing was a bit off, and then I couldn’t balance myself. Unfortunately, my knee hit her head.” Laput said.
“But after that, you know, Angel is such a strong person. Very strong mentally. Especially we need that as a team captain from her. Honestly, she didn’t blame me at all or anything like that. She just said, 'Laban, puso.'"

Right after the collision with Laput, Canino was slow to get up.
But she was able to stand up on her own and shake it off to continue playing in the set.
However, during the latter part of frame, Canino was subbed out and was attended to by medical personnel on the bench.
Then, after the game, Canino was escorted to an ambulance and was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Canino and Laput combined for 43 points in La Salle’s big win that ended a four-game winning streak for the Tigresses against the Lady Spikers, dating from last season.
