There’s a new Nieto in town.
While they may still be trying to make a name for themselves in the PBA, Mike Nieto along with his twin Matt have already accomplished a lot in their basketball careers. They’ve won three UAAP championships with the Ateneo Blue Eagles including a 16-0 season plus, they’ve represented the country as members of Gilas Pilipinas. Their youngest sibling Lebron Nieto seems headed for great success, starting with Ateneo as well.
In his second game of Season 85 UAAP Juniors basketball, the youngest Nieto sibling lived up to his name, erupting for 36 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals as the Blue Eagles crushed UPIS, 109-64. This prompted Big Mike to retweet his little bro’s spectacular performance while giving him a shoutout, using three fist bump emojis.
Lebron Nieto is playing his last year in the Juniors’ division, if he keeps putting up numbers like the real LeBron, he may be setting himself up for a stellar collegiate career like his older brothers. And if he does end up playing for Ateneo, learning from a proven coach like Tab Baldwin will only do him good.
As for Mike and Matt who are currently suiting up for the NLEX Road Warriors and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, respectively, another item might have been added to their list of goals to achieve in the PBA. Aside from winning championships and individual accolades, they might want to stay in the league long enough until their bunso could join them.
But hey, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Let’s wait and see how Lebron would follow through after his 36-point outburst.
