There’s no room for violence in basketball.
Videos circulating online showed a basketball game in Cebu featuring an international and a local squad with PBA players get cut short due to a brawl.
It happened when a foreign player started swinging at NLEX Road Warriors' JR Quiñahan after a rebound play. The PBA veteran was seen defending himself.
Quiñahan's former PBA teammate and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters big man Beau Belga threw the ball at the instigator.
The fight was immediately halted by game officials, although the entire match was called off after the brawl.
Magnolia Hotshots' Jio Jalalon and NorthPort Batang Pier's Robert Bolick were also present at the scene.
A Facebook user named Macrose Pasaol Brigoli uploaded a clip of the scuffle.
Whether or not the mother teams of the PBA players allowed them to suit up in Cebu, the unfortunate incident exposed the risks involved when the country’s top basketball players decide to give it a go in games outside of the PBA.
