Simple lang sa picture kahit ang lalakas maglaro.
Volleyball star Jaja Santiago, at least according to her Instagram, is currently here in the Philippines. She recently bid farewell to her pro team in Japan, Saitama Ageo Medics, but her stay here is most probably a vacation. After all, Santiago has taken steps, specifically taking a Japanese citizenship, that indicate she will be in the Land of the Rising Sun for the long haul.
While she’s here, Santiago made sure to visit her trainer and coach, Luis de Mesa, who also trains other pillars of Philippine volleyball, namely Bryan Bagunas and Marck Espejo.
And apparently, all three volleyball icons were with de Mesa at the same time, leading to this simple yet iconic photo—uploaded on Instagram by both de Mesa and Santiago on Monday.
There won’t be enough fire and flexing emojis to capture the oozing talent in this image. One commenter just said, “The power in this photo.” And yet that is still an understatement.
The trainer described it simply, writing “Legends” for a caption. More appropriately, he also wrote “TW JP KR” that most likely pertains to Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.
Back in March, Bagunas led his club, Win Streak, to bring home the Taiwan Top Volleyball championship while also bagging the MVP trophy.
Espejo, meanwhile, is one of two Filipinos drafted in the Korean V-League as part of the Asian Quota. That is after he led the Cignal HD Spikers to the Spikers’ Turf Open Conference title, winning Finals MVP.
And Santiago, as aforementioned, is making Japan her home, a process jumpstarted years ago by her volleyball excellence.
All three world-class stars in one photo in just another ordinary day? Somebody has to frame that.
