All systems go for the FIBA World Cup.
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is good to go for the arrival of the different teams that will be taking part in the FIBA World Cup, which is set to run from August 25 to September 10.
The Philippines' primary gateway has been dressed in the colors of the world meet, as it looks to make both the entry and exit of FIBA World Cup delegates as easy and as seamless as possible.
In addition, the Department of Tourism has set up information desks inside NAIA, while the Bureau of Immigration has organized courtesy lanes for the delegates, who will also be given access to VIP parking and lounges.
"We have the full support of NAIA for the FIBA World Cup. Since the Asian Qualifiers, we have received each delegate with VIP assistance, and so far we have only received good feedback from delegates, especially since they have never been received the same way in other international airports," said Pauline Ick, International Relations and Protocol Head of the FIBA Local Organizing Committee (LOC).
Local government units, the MMDA, and the DPWH will also be working together to ensure that the delegates will be able to travel smoothly, efficiently, and conveniently during the games. They will be taken care of by several coordinators for transportation and security. The MMDA will also allow the FIBA LOC to use its state-of-the-art monitoring headquarters as a multi-agency coordination center for the duration of the world meet.
"FIBA is beyond amazed at how Filipinos have gone above and beyond in preparing for this hosting,” said Ick, who is leaving no stones unturned to make sure that FIBA and the visiting teams will have the best experience possible—right from when they arrive in NAIA and up until they leave.
