Filipinos are so resilient they don't let any tragic event get the best of them. Most times, they find ways to laugh in the face of adversity.

Something of the same nature happened on Tuesday when Filipino bet Marlon Tapales fell prey to Japanese fighter Naoya Inoue in their super bantamweight bout in Japan.

Dubbed "The Monster" for obvious reasons, Inoue battered Tapales one too many times on the way to a KO victory to become the first-ever undisputed champion at 122 kg.

But, had the Filipino pugilist managed to flip the script after that round 4 knockdown and deal Inoue his first loss, FlipTop star BLKD could have used a proper, albeit witty, caption to describe the conquest.

"Ganda sana ng headline kung nagkataon no: 'Tapales, Inoue ang Tagumpay,' he said in a Facebook post.

Of course, BLKD's headline is a play on The Monster's surname, whose pronunciation is very similar to the Filipino world "inuwi."

Suffice to say, BLKD and the rest of the country would have loved to say, "Tapales, inuwi ang tagumpay."

Too bad Tapales lost. Because BLKD appeared to be ready to give the Filipino his flowers.

Still, Tapales earned the praise of his fellow Filipinos and the boxing community against the 122-pound king, who is now looking for more challengers at the super bantamweight division.
