In what can only be described as a series of unfortunate events, Goyang Sono Skygunners import Chinanu Onuaku is once again involved in an incident with a Filipino Asia Quota Player in the KBL, this time with SJ Belangel.

In Sunday’s game featuring the Skygunners and the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus, Belangel attempted a game-winning floater for KOGAS, with Onuaku jumping to contest.

Belangel missed, but a bad fall for the two players had Onuaku landing on top of SJ. The crash appeared to badly hurt the former Ateneo guard’s leg, as he was down on the floor holding on to his left shin.

Fortunately, Belangel avoided a major injury and is suffering from a shin contusion, per a report by Jumpball Korea. He is expected to play as soon the pain subsides.

Onuaku has been quite infamous among Filipino Asian Quota imports in the KBL as of late.

In late December, his collision with Anyang’s Rhenz Abando caused a spinal injury for the high-flying Red Boosters star, causing him to miss 18 games. For the incident, Onuaku was fined 3 million Korean won.

After a slow first season with the Pegasus, Belangel is having a breakout year in the KBL, averaging 12.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.

His points per game average is up by almost six points from his first year in Korea.

Belangel also set his new career-high this season, scoring 30 points in a win over Busan KCC Egis back in November. He also has nine other games where he scored 20 or more points.
