Vietnam demonstrated its prowess by securing a second-straight AVC Challenge Cup title with a flawless performance, closing out Kazakhstan in straight sets, 25-20, 25-22, 25-20, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila on Wednesday, May 29.

Despite not fielding star outside hitter Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, the 38th-ranked Vietnam managed to go undefeated in a strong run to the title, dropping just a single set in the tournament.

The win also formally qualified Vietnam for the 2024 FIVB Women's Challenger Cup, which will be held in Manila from July 4-7.

Last year, Vietnam also went undefeated in the tournament held in Gresik Regency in Indonesia.

Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen fired 26 points to help take down the 30th-ranked Kazakhstan for the second time in the tournament.

Down 16-20 in the third set, Vietnam went on a 5-0 run led by Tuyen to snatch the lead.

Tuyen would go on to score two more points to give her Vietnamese squad a more comfortable two-point spread.

Svetlana Nikolayeva scored for Kazakhstan through an off-the-block hit. However, she failed to spike the ball over the net in the next play, leading to Vietnam’s championship victory.
