Rubilen Amit finally adds the WPA Women’s World 9-Ball Championship to her collection, becoming the first Filipina to do so in the process.
The 9-ball world title that eluded Rubilen Amit for so long is finally hers.
Amit made history as the first Filipina to claim the title at the WPA Women’s World 9-Ball Championship, seizing the 2024 crown at the Claudelands Events Centre in Hamilton, New Zealand, on Sunday, September 8.
Rubilen outlasted 2017 champion Chen Siming of China in a fierce battle of 1-4, 4-2, 4-2, 4-3 to secure her third world championship—her first triumph in 9-ball.
She also earned $50,000 for clinching the 9-ball title, a prestigious win sanctioned by the World Pool-Billiard Association and organized by the Predator Pro Billiard Series.
She fought her way to the Finals through a grueling series, overcoming Russia's Kristina Tkach with a dramatic finish, winning the last two sets 2-4, 4-3, 2-4, 4-1, 4-1.
Amit, now 42, has elevated her already stellar collection with prestigious 9-Ball world championship, joining her 2009 and 2013 10-Ball world titles and ten gold medals from the Southeast Asian Games.
Half of Amit's SEA Games gold medals come from 9-ball singles, but the world championship eluded her for years, with her runner-up finish in 2007 being the closest before finally breaking through this year.
