Excitement is building as the Philippines prepares to host the inaugural FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed the tournament dates in a video posted on his Instagram on Friday, October 4, announcing that the competition will run from November 21 to December 5, 2025.

This marks the first time that the Philippines will host a FIFA event, and the second FIFA women's tournament to take place in Southeast Asia.

The landmark event will see 16 nations, representing six continental confederations, battle for futsal supremacy.

The Philippines will be among the competing teams as the host nation. The group stage will feature four groups of four teams each.

Teams will qualify from their respective regions: three from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), two from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), two from the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), three from the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), four from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), and one from the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC).

FIFA had previously announced in May 2024 that the Philippines would host the inaugural edition of the Women’s Futsal World Cup.

Philippine Football Federation (PFF) President John Gutierrez shared his optimism in June, noting the federation's commitment to delivering a successful tournament.

"We are on track for the hosting. As a matter of fact, the FIFA Council just confirmed that we are indeed the host and confirmed the dates. Very exciting for us, especially for futsal enthusiasts,” said Gutierrez.

The PFF President also revealed that several players from the women’s national football team, who participated in the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup, are planning to join the futsal team.

“I would also like to share that some of our women’s national team players have committed their services to the Futsal women’s team, simply because some of them actually started in Futsal,” said Gutierrez.

“Some of those players who played in the last World Cup will be happy to join the Futsal team, and it’s looking very good,” he added.
