Japanese ace Yuki Kawamura is one step closer to his NBA dream.

The former B.LEAGUE MVP and Akatsuki Japan star has been promoted to a two-way contract by the Memphis Grizzlies, the team announced after their pre-season schedule.

Kawamura, initially signed to an Exhibit 10 deal, played in all five pre-season games for Memphis, averaging 3.4 points and 4.2 assists in 15.1 minutes per game.

Yuki’s most productive game came in the win against Indiana, where he posted 10 points and seven assists.

An NBA Two-Way Contract allows a player to split time with his NBA team and a G League affiliate.
