Kai Sotto continues his strong performances for the Koshigaya Alphas to start the new Japan B.LEAGUE season.

The 7-foot-2 center finished with a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with a career-high tying four blocks for the Alphas Wednesday, October 23. Unfortunately, it came in a 69-78 loss to the Akita Northern Happinets.

Koshigaya looked poised to take road the victory after limiting Akita to just six points in the third quarter. However, in the fourth quarter, it was the Happinets’ turn to frustrate the Alphas, limiting Sotto and his squad to just 11 points to turn the game around.

Tanner Leissner and Yannis Morin combined for 31 points in the win, which pushed Akita to a 4-3 record.

With the loss, Koshigaya continues to navigate a tough first season in the B1, now with a 1-6 record. This is despite Sotto’s outstanding performances for the team, accumulating four double-doubles in the first seven games.

Ravena contributed seven points, two rebounds, and five assists in 26 minutes of action as Yokohama now sits around the middle of the pack with a 3-4 record after back-to-back defeats.
