It’s February and the longtime NBA fans know what to expect around this time of the year.

While hosting the league's biggest stars on one court has been a constant for several decades, much has transformed since its inception in 1951.

As the 79th edition of the event unfolds next week, let’s look back on the past six All-Star game uniforms that easily caught the eye of viewers.

2025

Host City: San Francisco, California

Let’s start with the most recent one.

Three jerseys were unveiled to accommodate a revamped All-Star Game format featuring a mini-tournament this year at the Bay Area.

Each kit draws inspiration from the host city’s rich history and vibes as well the Golden State Warriors, the host team for the annual mid-season festivities.

The navy and light blue uniforms feature a stripe pattern along the side of the jersey and shorts, representing the roots of Oakland oak trees. Sounds familiar, right? Because this was a nod for the Warriors’ past home before moving to San Francisco six years ago.

2024

Host City: Indianapolis, Indiana

Result: East def. West, 211-186

MVP: Damian Lillard

This event marked the return of the traditional East-vs-West format for the first time with the uniforms giving a nostalgic vibe.

The classic red and blue uniforms with a tonal twist and  pinstripes were inspired by the iconic Pacers uniforms in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Damian Lillard went on to star in the 73rd annual NBA All-Star event, becoming the first player to win the 3-point shootout champion and later took home the Kobe Bryant ASG MVP honors.

2023

Host City: Salt Lake City, Utah

Result: Team Giannis def. Team Lebron, 184-175

MVP: Jayson Tatum

For the sixth year, the league has used the captain format with LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo taking the nod and earning the right to choose players from the All-Star pool.

Some key features in the uniforms are the red-to-yellow and blue-to-black gradients, reminiscent of the Utah Jazz’s City edition uniforms during that season and its landscapes.

Jayson Tatum took the spotlight in this event, recording a All-Star Game record 55 points en route to winning the MVP honors for the first time in his career.

2022

Host City: Cleveland, Ohio

Result: Team Lebron def. Team Durant, 163-160

MVP: Stephen Curry

Inspired by the architecture of the city’s bridges, the uniform’s design also pays homage to the classic All-Star uniforms of the late 1980s and early ’90s.

In celebration of the league’s 75th anniversary that season, the colors are drawn from the silver, prismatic shine of a diamond against the blue and red of the NBA logo. The blue represents the prominence of Lake Erie, and the red symbolizes the strength and resilience of Cleveland.

The All-Star Game saw Stephen Curry leading Team LeBron to victory after erupting for 50 points built off a record 16 threes to clinch the ASG MVP honors.

2021

Host City: Atlanta, Georgia

Result: Team Lebron def. Team Durant, 170-150

MVP: Giannis Antekounmpo

Held in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 NBA All-Star still pushed through in a “mini-bubble” set-up amidst health concerns.

The blue and yellow color scheme is a callback to the Midwest team.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was hailed as the MVP of the ASG, dropping 35 points in just 19 minutes for Team Lebron.

2020

Host City: Chicago, Illinois

Result: Team Lebron def. Team Giannis, 157-155

MVP: Kawhi Leonard

This edition of the All-Star weekend is the first since the tragic death of legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and seven others in a helicopter crash just a month before.

The uniforms’ numbers were all no. 24 and no. 2 in remembrance of Kobe and Gianna’s jersey numbers respectively.

In addition, jersey patches included nine stars, representing those who lost their lives in the unfortunate accident that include John, Keri and Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christina Mauser and Ara Zobayan.

The All-Star Game did not disappoint as the showdown of Team Lebron and  Team Giannis came down to the wire, with Anthony Davis of the former sealing the win from the free throw line.

Kawhi Leonard was named the MVP after racking up 30 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
