Islay Erika Bomogao will be the first fighter from the Philippines to compete on the ONE stage this year when she arrives at Lumpinee Stadium in just a couple of days.

Bomogao returns to action against Ran Longshu in a 101-pound catchweight Muay Thai bout at ONE Friday Fights 93 in Bangkok, Thailand, on January 10.

The 24-year-old had a dazzling debut in November of last year. There, she beat Fuu in a clear-cut unanimous decision win.

After experiencing first-hand what it’s like to compete on the biggest stage of Muay Thai, she wants to get back in the saddle ASAP.

“I love the spotlight. I love the loud people,” Bomogao said in an earlier interview.

“Everyone [in the stadium] was very excited, everyone was happy. I felt happy and everyone was really warm,” she added.

Islay is getting her wish, but it won’t get any easier against Ran, who is also eyeing an impressive start to her ONE Championship career with a victory over the highly touted Filipina.

Bomogao’s return is a precursor to what’s going to be a big weekend for Filipina combat sports. Hours after her fight, Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga will take center stage.

Zamboanga shoots for the ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Title against Alyona Rassohyna in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 27 on January 11, Saturday morning (PH time), at the same venue.

A win for both Bomogao and Zamboanga will certainly be big for Filipino combat sports, with a busy year slated for team Philippines in the promotion this year.
