Carlo Bumina-ang and Jeremy Miado earn nice wins, but a tough loss for Lito Adiwang denies the Philippines a clean sweep in ONE Fight Night 28 in Bangkok.
Carlo Bumina-ang was the star of the night for the Philippine contingent in ONE Fight Night 28 at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand, as the Filipinos drew mixed results on Saturday morning.
Bumina-ang, who flaunts a 7-1 record in MMA, made sure to bounce back after a loss in his first foray into the ONE main roster last August. The up-and-coming fighter of Team Lakay nabbed a first-round TKO win over Min Jong Song to start the day with a big win for the Philippines.
Just 53 seconds into the opening round, Bumina-ang showered his foe with punches that forced the official to stop the fight just as the Filipino fighter was getting hot in the ring.
The Philippines then went 2-for-2 when Jeremy Miado nabbed the unanimous decision win over Gilbert Nakatani.
It was a big win for Miado who snapped a tough streak in his career — having lost four bouts in a row prior to Saturday morning.
However, the third Filipino to see action in Lito Adiwang could not make it a perfect outing for the country as he was dominated by Keito Yamakita after previously winning three bouts in a row.
From the get-go, Adiwang was caught on the back foot by Yamakita’s wrestling as the Filipino was stuck on the defensive.
Despite dragging the fight into the third round and into the judges scorecards, Adiwang was unable to do enough to take the win.
The Philippines thus went 2-1 in the event that was also supposed to see Jeremy Pacatiw in action.
