Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima Qmic C VC will finish with a bronze medal in the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League after taking down China’s Beijing BAIC Motor in four sets, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19, at the PhilSports Arena on Sunday, April 27.
This marks back-to-back bronze medal finishes for the Thai squad after also placing on the podium last year.
Bucking a second-set defeat, Nakhon Ratchasima snatched the third frame before pulling away in the fourth.
Leading 12-11, the six-time Thai league champions distanced themselves behind a 4-0 blast highlighted by Sasipapron Janthawisut and import Anyse Marlee Smith.
Despite BAIC Motor’s efforts to cut into the deficit, Nakhon Ratchasima held on to their lead and closed the match as Shan Lanfeng’s attack failed to cross the net.
Greek import Evangelia Chantava led the Thais with 22 points on 19 attacks, one block, and two service aces. Smith added 16, while Janthawisut had 14 markers.
BAIC Motor’s Ye Jin bounced back from her seven-point performance in the semifinals with 23 points, while Lanfeng added 17 in the losing effort.
Nakhon Ratchasima will take home $10,000 for the podium finish, while BAIC Motor received $5,000 for the fourth-place finish.
