American spiker Anyse Marlee Smith’s first visit to the Philippines during the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League left a lasting impression—and possibly opened doors for a future volleyball career in the country.

Fresh off helping Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima Qmin C VC capture the bronze medal, Smith shared her gratitude and excitement about her Philippine experience after their four-set win over China's Beijing BAIC Motor, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig Sunday, April 27.

“What’s next after today? I’m going back to America to see my daughter," Smith told One Sports. "I plan on continuing my career, hopefully in December. I don’t know where—wherever God takes me next.”

“Once again, I just want to thank the Philippines for welcoming us. I had an amazing time. First time here and I give it a 10/10. Hopefully, ya’ll see me soon."

Smith, who poured in 16 points on 14 attacks and two blocks in the bronze medal match, also expressed her appreciation for the warm support from Filipino fans, whether at the venue or on social media.

Many fans have even called for her to be an import for their respective teams in the PVL.

"I actually love it. It makes me feel really special. It makes me really reflect on my talent and my gifts, and makes me appreciate myself more, my coaches more, because without them, I wouldn’t be this good," she said.

"It’s just a good feeling to know that people support me from all over the world, even when I go back to America to tell my family. They have a huge fan base and I was the top of it. It’s exciting."

With her impressive performance and the love she felt from Filipino fans, Smith hinted that a possible future volleyball stint in the Philippines could be in the cards.

“Maybe, maybe. We’ll see,” she smiled.
