Joanie Delgaco bids her medal dreams good bye, but there's still a chance to prove herself in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
Philippine rower Joanie Delgaco is bidding her medal dreams good bye in her debut at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, but she still has plenty to fight for.
Delgaco finished last in quarterfinal 3 of the women's single sculls event with a time of 7:58.30.
She was trailing right off the bat, starting fifth at the 500 meter mark before dropping last right at the half.
Two-time Olympic champion Emma Twigg of New Zealand was first to the finish line at 7:26.89. She will be joined in Semifinals A/B by Switzerland's Aurelia-Maxima Katharina Janzen (7:31.12) and Spain's Virginia Diaz Rivas (7:34.01).
All is not lost though for Delgaco, who makes history as the first Filipina rower at the Olympics.
She will still compete for qualification during Semifinals C/D, which would take place on July 31, at 4:14 p.m.
