Two-time Olympic boxing medalist Nesthy Petecio is embracing a new chapter in her life as she moves into her new home in Tagaytay City.
The Philippine Olympic Committee held a house blessing and turnover ceremony for the house and lots awarded to Paris 2024 Olympic medalists Carlos Yulo, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas in Tagaytay City.
This event underscored the nation’s appreciation for its athletes and their relentless pursuit of excellence.
Petecio, known for her resilience and tenacity in the ring, couldn’t contain her joy as she shared the news with her supporters.
"Ang bahay na ito ay isang malaking paalala na walang imposible kung magsusumikap at magtutok sa goals. I’ll be living here with my family, and I’m incredibly excited to create beautiful memories here," she wrote in a heartfelt Facebook post.
Nesthy Petecio’s path to the Olympics has been paved with endless hours of training, sacrifice, and unwavering determination.
From the tender age of 11, she stepped into the ring not just for the thrill of the fight but to support and uplift her family. She endured grueling training sessions, setbacks, and doubts, yet remained steadfast in her mission.
Beyond the cheers and the medals, her heart holds a deeper promise—a promise to herself.
She first earned a silver medal in Tokyo 2020, becoming the first Filipina boxer to achieve the Olympic honor. Petecio then followed it up with a bronze in Paris 2024.
After the Olympics, the veteran boxer shared with One Sports that she had made a vow to prioritize her own happiness.
"Sa future Nesthy, promise ko sa’yo na mararanasan mo ‘yong buhay na gusto mo. After this, mga challenges na nararanasan mo, mga pagod, lahat ng sakripisyo. Ie-enjoy natin ‘yong the rest na natitirang buhay natin," she declared.
