Giovanna Day will be the Petro Gazz Angels' lone reinforcement in the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League.
Fresh off their 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference championship victory, the Petro Gazz Angels are adding even more firepower as they welcome American outside hitter Giovanna Milana Day for the upcoming AVC Women’s Champions League.
The well-traveled spiker has seen action in professional leagues across Puerto Rico, Italy, South Korea, Indonesia, and Athletes Unlimited in the U.S. She was most recently part of League One Volleyball’s (LOVB) Atlanta squad.
The 6-footer had a decorated college career, starting with Maryland where she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2016, before transferring to Baylor.
There, she helped lead the Bears to their first-ever Final Four appearance in 2019 and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Second Team.
The American spiker also shined on the international stage, bagging the Best Outside Hitter award in the 2024 Korean V-League while playing for Daejeon Jungkwanjang Red Sparks.
Day will be the Angels' lone reinforcement in the tournament. MVP Brooke Van Sickle and Finals MVP MJ Phillips, who played in the PVL All-Filipino Conference as locals by virtue of their Filipino roots, are also considered as imports in the AVC since the duo is still affiliated with USA Volleyball as their federation.

Nonetheless, Petro Gazz is banking on Day's experience and versatility to bolster their roster as they battle some of Asia’s top clubs.
The Angels open their AVC Champions League campaign on April 21 against Taipower.
