Tough luck again for our Pinoy boxers.

Hergie Bacyadan was unable to flip the script against highly-favored top seed Li Qian of China, absorbing a a unanimous decision loss in their round of 16 clash in the women’s 75kg class.

The Pinoy pugilist was more than willing to engage in a brawl but she simply could not land clean shots against the two-time Olympic medalist in Quan, who earned five 30-27s in her dominant win.

Bacyadan could not answer back to Chinese boxer's combination shots early and trailed for most of the part until finally landing some combination in the third round -- his best showing in the match -- and even put the Chinese bet on the ropes.

But it was too little too late for the firs-time Olympian, who just needed two wins in the division for a guaranteed spot on the Olympic podium.

"Nakakapanghinayang kasi nandito na ko,” the 29-year-old said in the post-match interview.

“Ginawan naman natin ‘yung makakaya natin para maipanalo’ yung laban kaso kulang pa talaga sa [international] experience sa boxing.”

Making her Olympic debut, Bacyadan is the latest boxer to be eliminated in Paris 2024 after Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist Eumir Marcial crashed out in the opening round against Uzbekistan’s Turabek Khabibullaev in the men’s -80kg event.

Compatriot Carlo Paalam is next to compete later for the Philippine boxing team, squaring off against Jude Gallagher of Ireland in Round of 16 in men's 57kg class at 9:30 p.m. (PH time).
