Paris 2024: China dominates France to secure quarterfinals spot in women

As of second win 25-18, 25-16, 25-19 China is now 2-0 in the preliminaries and through to the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 women's volleyball, after eliminating host France.

China set the tone with a commanding performance, overpowering France to win 25-18. Their aggressive play and sharp precision left the French team scrambling to keep up.

They continued their dominant play in the second set, clinching a 25-16 victory.

China completes their sweep with a 25-19 win. Despite a determined effort from France, China’s consistent pressure and tactical execution ensured their path to the quarterfinals remained unblemished.

Four players were in double digits for China. They were led by Li Yingying, who had 14 points, built around 12 attacks, a block, and an ace.

Wang Yuanyuan had 13, Zhu Ting had 12, while Gong Xiangyu had 10.

Only Lucille Gicquel was in double digits for France with 10. The Chinese also limited their errors to six, while the French committed 18.

Diao Linyu was the orchestrator with 31 excellent sets, while Wang Mengjie protected the floor with 18 digs and 12 receptions

China will cap off the preliminary phase against Serbia on August 4 to determine the top spot in Pool A. Meanwhile, France will still face the United States of America--who is hunting for a last-minute QF spot.
