Carlo Paalam fights for first Philippine boxing medal in Paris 2024
Every win now by Carlo Paalam means a medal for the Philippines.

After an impressive first match in Paris 2024, Carlo Paalam will look to lock up the first medal for the Philippine boxing team in these Olympics.

Paalam returns to the ring at 9:46 p.m. Saturday (Philippine time), taking on no. 4 seed Charlie Senior of Australia in men’s 57kg quarterfinals.

A win for Paalam sends him to the semis, which means an automatic bronze medal.

In his first match last July 31, Paalam eliminated Jude Gallagher of Ireland in the round of 16, scoring a convincing 5-0 win.

For his second match, Paalam will once again be challenged as Senior, a two-time Australian national champion, will enter with a significant height advantage.

The 22-year-old Senior towers at 5’10”, compared to Paalam who is listed at 5’4”. The Aussie beat Vasile Usturoi of Belgium in his first match, 4-1.
