Mark Yulo is also confident Caloy and his mother Angelica will be able to mend fences soon.
When Carlos Yulo copped his second gold medal in the Paris Olympics, the entire country revelled in his conquest.
No one was prouder than Mark Andrew Yulo.
“Masaya na may halong kaba. Sobrang saya nakuha nya yung gold after four years (since) Olympics Tokyo,” the Yulo patriarch said in an interview with ONE Balita Pilipinas’ Cheryl Cosim.

After ruling the floor exercise gold, the Yulo family wasn’t exactly expecting him to win another one. But they remained hopeful.
That’s why Mark, along with other relatives and their neighbors watched Caloy’s every move on Sunday evening, August 4, rooting for him to win it all.
Then the Filipino Olympian dazzled in the vault on Monday, AUgust 4, when he flaunted a near-perfect piked Dragulescu at the Bercy Arena.
At that point, there was little doubt he would score a golden double.
“Hindi namin akalain na magiging dalawa (gold). Any prize na lang, bonus na po yung gold (sa vault). Pero binigay pa rin. Ang galing po. Talagang blessed si Caloy ngayon,” the elder Yulo said.

But while Yulo now basks in Olympic glory, there’s another challenge that awaits him when he gets home.
It’s no secret there’s a rift between the two-time Olympian and his mother Angelica.
According to Mark, Angelica dozed off during her son’s golden performance.
“Natuwa naman yan. Ayaw niya lang [ipakita] kasi may kaunti silang tampuhan,” he said of his wife, who he said were spent after doing the laundry earlier that day.
But the Yulo patriarch is confident the two will be able to mend fences soon.
“Opo, God’s will (they will make peace with each other). Pag uwi po ni Caloy aayusin namin. Matagal na po yun,” he said.
