The Paralympic Games Paris 2024 is well underway.

The Philippine contingent was decked out in red, blue, yellow, and black during the opening ceremony held early on Thursday, August 29, Philippine time.

Para swimmer Ernie Gawilan and para archer Agustina Bantiloc were the flagbearers.

The uniforms were created by Filipina designer Ditta Sandico.

The men wore one-of-a-kind handwoven black jackets with the Philippine Paralympic Committee logo on the right chest. On the left are hand embroidered designs by the Mangyan tribes. Take note, there are no repeats for each pattern.

The women also wore black, but wore flag-inspired wraps using local handwoven banaca fabric--which is a blend of banana and abaca fiber.

The Paralympians also wore flag-colored hats using the same banaca fabric.

"We wanted the colours to have a story based on their experiences as Para-athletes," Sandico told Tatler Philippines. "It was important that they stand out in the crowd, not just for their abilities but also for the culture they represent."

Bantiloc will kick off the Philippine campaign later at 7 p.m. in the women's individual compound open - W2 event.
