Jerrold Mangliwan returns to a familiar place after finishing 7th in the qualification rounds of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games
The redemption arc is off and running for Filipino para athlete Jerrold Mangliwan.
Mangliwan will enter the medal rounds of the men’s 400-meter T52 race after finishing in seventh place after Heat 1 at the Paralympic Games Paris 2024 on Friday, August 30 (Philippine time).
The 44-year-old clocked in a time of 1:05.79, enough to land him inside the top eight that will advance to the finals.
Only the top three finishers in each heat alongside the next two fastest will qualify in the medal rounds set on early Saturday morning of August 31 at 1:14 a.m.
Maxime Carabin set a new Paralympics record with a 54.48 second outing, topping the heat easily and breaking the feat set by Tomoki Sato three years ago of 55.39.
Mangliwan, a three-time Paralympian, failed to avenge his disappointment three years ago where he earned DQ finish after entering the wrong lane at the critical homestretch.
That ended his medal hopes in his second Paralympics stint.
