Philippine para swimmer Angel Otom continues to shine in her Paralympic Games debut, reaching another medal round--the women's 50m butterfly - S5 event.
Philippine para swimmer Angel Otom shows she definitely has wings in the water, making it to her second final of the Paralympic Games Paris 2024.
The 21-year-old athlete secured her place in the medal round of the womens' 50m butterfly - S5 event, finishing third in Heat 1 and fifth overall with a time of 46.85 seconds. Only the eight fastest advance to the final.
The time is considerably faster than her 2023 World Championship result of 47.52 seconds, but slower than her 2022 Asian Para Games result of 45.80 seconds.
This is Angel's second final of her Paralympic Games debut. Last Tuesday, she ranked seventh in the heats of the womens' 50m backstroke - S5 event. She then finished the final at sixth place, while China's Lu Dong won gold.
Otom will compete with her idol Lu Dong again in the butterfly final later at 11:58 p.m., Philippine time.
