He will likely be out for two or three months.
TNT Tropang Giga gunner RR Pogoy will miss the rest of the PBA Governors’ Cup finals against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel due to a fractured right pinkie he sustained in Game 3 last Friday.
Coach Jojo Lastimosa on Sunday said his ward will likely be out for two to three months, putting in jeopardy his stint in the Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia next month.
Still, the Tropang Giga emerged victorious in Game 4, 116-104, on the crest of a record-breaking 21 three-pointers.
The series is tied at two game apiece. As for Pogoy, he now awaits his fate as he struggles with a very painful injury.
“Every hawak ko ng bola, kumbaga sa one to ten, ten na talaga ‘yung sakit. ‘Yun pala bali na pala ‘yung pinky ng right hand ko,” said Pogoy.
On Monday, the 30-year-old Cebuano said he will have his hand checked.
“Bukas (Monday) magpatingin kami sa hand specialist. Tignan kung dito o sa abroad magpa-surgery,” he said.
Depending on what happens and how fast his pinky heals, this injury could also affect Pogoy's potential stint for Gilas Pilipinas in the FIBA World Cup, which the country is co-hosting with Japan and Indonesia in August.
