It would not take a rocket scientist to figure out that LA Tenorio would have wanted to play alongside his Barangay Ginebra San Miguel teammates in the recently concluded PBA Governors’ Cup finals—especially given their struggles in Games 4, 5, and 6.

But that series is all water under the bridge now. The TNT Tropang Giga have dethroned Ginebra, and now Tim Cone’s wards will have more than enough time to lick their wounds and prepare for Season 48.

Despite the heartbreaking defeat, Tenorio only has kind words for his team—and positive vibes.

“Not the result we wanted for this conference. But I am super proud of this team. We fought all the way 'til the end despite of everything,” wrote Tenorio in a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday. “One thing [is] for sure, we didn’t win the championship but we grew closer and stronger.”

Ginebra, according to Tenorio, grew so close together that it is now more than just a team.

“Can’t just call this a TEAM now, but FAMILY. We have more battles to come, am with you guys all the way!” Tenorio added.

The 38-year-old veteran, who is currently fighting colon cancer, also thanked his teammates for the fight they put up even amid all the uncertainty and adversity.

“Thank you for giving everything you’ve got to get this championship,” Tenorio wrote further. “Can’t wait to get back with you guys on the court next conference. Let’s comeback stronger.”

The Ginebra family will have six months or so to get its act together and prepare for the PBA 48th season, which is scheduled to tip off in October.

Hopefully, Tinyente will have a clean bill of health by that time so he can be part of Ginebra’s strong comeback.
