He suffered a knee injury in Ginebra’s last game in the PBA On Tour on Sunday.
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel ace Jeremiah Gray went down in a transition play with 22 ticks remaining in the third quarter. He was grimacing in pain as he clutched his right knee under the basket at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Sunday.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone confirmed to One Sports on Monday that Gray suffered a dislocated knee.
“Jeremiah had a dislocated knee. The doctors were able to put the knee back in place and straighten it,” Cone said in a text message.
Ginebra went on to eke out a 91-85 win over the NLEX Road Warriors to cap off their PBA On Tour campaign with a 6-5 win-loss record.
In the absence of Ginebra’s more established stars, Gray had been at the forefront of Ginebra’s attacks as he normed 14.6 points to go with 8.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.0 steals.
Cone said it’s not clear yet whether the rising star would need a surgery on his injured knee.
“They are now in the process of evaluating the ligaments surrounding the knee. No decisions have been made yet about surgery,” Cone added.
This is not the first time the second pick in the 2022 Draft sustained a knee injury. He also tore an ACL when he was still playing for the TNT Triple Giga in the PBA 3x3.
