Forever a mama’s boy: June Mar Fajardo honors late mom in moving tribute

Forever a mama’s boy: June Mar Fajardo honors late mom in moving tribute

June Mar Fajardo of the San Miguel Beermen is a mama’s boy, and he has never been shy telling people about it. Neither did he shy away from showing everyone how heartbroken he was when his beloved mother passed away back in 2021.

And so, on his mom’s second death anniversary, Fajardo took to social media to honor her in a most poignant, moving way. The Kraken, highly physical on the court but the gentlest of giants off it, posted an Instagram Story of the two sharing a moment together and having a good laugh—with Ed Sheeran’s “Visiting Hours” playing in the background.

Along with the post, Fajardo wrote: “I know you are not so far; I can see you in the skies.”

“Miss you, Mama, always,” the big man added. “We remember you on this day.”

Fajardo’s love for his departed mother is well-documented, and their closeness is something PBA fans have sure seen time and again. In fact, she was present when Fajardo received his fifth and sixth MVP plums in 2019 and 2020, respectively. The big man’s Instagram is also filled with memories of the Fajardo matriarch and her happy times with the six-time MVP.

The 6-foot-10 center is currently busy with Gilas Pilipinas as he is looking to secure a spot in the team’s final roster for the FIBA World Cup—his third straight in case he does make it.

And, should he be fortunate enough to play in a third FIBA World Cup, best believe that The Kraken will be playing not only for the Philippines and his countrymen, but more so for his beloved mother.
