Fans react as Thomas Robinson will finally play in PBA, this time for NLEX

The NLEX Road Warriors are bringing in Thomas Robinson as import for the upcoming PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The team made the announcement early Wednesday on Facebook.

The former NBA journeyman, drafted fifth in the 2012 NBA Draft, was supposed to suit up for the San Miguel Beermen last season but never saw action due to a back injury.

The Road Warriors are thrilled to have the the 6-foot-10 cager, who also played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets, at the forefront in the upcoming season which begins on November 5.

“Get ready for an exciting season ahead as we dominate the court with Robinson leading the charge,” the team wrote in the caption.

Fans, though, couldn’t help but ask: Ilang games kaya ilalaro niya?

This question, of course, likely stems from NLEX's experience the last time it fielded in a high-profile reinforcement with NBA pedigree. It was the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup, where Road Warriors found someone close to a super import in Jonathon Simmons, only for him to leave the team for China after just a few games.

The Road Warriors looked promising with Simmons in charge, racing off to a 4-0 win-loss record. But Simmons, who averaged 37 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals, had to move on to China.

Netizen TJ Santos hopes the former Sacramento King stays healthy.

With Robinson in tow, the Road Warriors will look to make a playoff run in Season 48's Commissioner's Cup.
