The campaign period of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) has begun, serenading all of us with omnipresent cringe-inducing jingles.
This gave us the incredibly profound idea of imagining players of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel run for barangay captain and create respective slogans for them. Because why not? It is the peak of our boundless stupidity.
After all, what's BSKE without promises of building basketball courts?
Stanley Pringle
Pringle may have lost a step or two, but he still has elite handles. With the way he expertly handles the rock, he could also handle his constituents with proper care when he becomes a barangay captain. He is a crucial cog for Team NSD in the upcoming PBA Commissioner's Cup with Justin Brownlee possibly out.
Jamie Malonzo
Malonzo is arguably the best high-flyer in the PBA today. His breakaway dunks and alley-oop slams are always a treat to watch. He can inspire everyone to aim high in whatever field people choose. Unfortunately, the Gilas Pilipinas forward is grounded as of the moment due to an injury he suffered in the FIBA World Cup.
Christian Standhardinger
C-Stan has always been a consistent contributor for Barangay Ginebra. He's an all-business type of player. Less talk, more action. He's also a consummate team player. It won't be surprising at all if he brings all those attributes if he becomes a public servant. He can also singlehandedly bulldoze cars parked illegally on streets.
Scottie Thompson
Thompson is not new to leadership. He's embraced the leadership role for Team NSD in recent years. He also knows how to rebound from adversity, as proven by his solid showing in the Asian Games following a lackluster stint in the FIBA World Cup. He can do it all. He can even probably sing during miting de avance.
LA Tenorio
Real talk: Tenorio could be a legitimate barangay captain. Tinyente is an embodiment of a true leader. He pushes everyone to be better, and after beating cancer, his life only became even more inspirational. He's working his way back to rejoining Barangay Ginebra, displaying the fortitude and bravery he's always had.
Seriously, vote wisely.
