The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters got off to a fun start to prepare for the PBA Season 48 Commissioner's Cup, as they headed to Anvaya Cove in Bataan for a team-building session last October 9.

When they got there, the squad worked on drills before lunch before a two-and-a-half-hour lecture session.

There, they decided to use secret ballots to vote for the new Bayan ng ROS team captain.

There were four who got nominated—Beau Belga, Gabe Norwood, Rey Nambatac, and Mark Borboran who just happened to enter the room and was surprised to see his name on the board.

Norwood got the majority of the votes with 12. Nambatac got two, while Borboran had three.

Coach Yeng Guiao couldn't help but point out a funny fact.

"Bakit may nag-nominate kay Beau tapos walang boto?" He asked, as shown in the Rain or Shine vlog posted on the team's Facebook page.

Turned out Belga was nominated by Norwood. The team captain though did have inspiring words for the squad.

"There's nothing like winning a championship," he said. They have managed it twice so far with the 2012 Governors' Cup and the 2016 Commissioner's Cup.

"Just knowing the league, knowing how hard it is... it's needed for a team like us to win. And I think it's time," he declared.

During the last Commissioner's Cup, Rain or Shine finished eighth in the preliminaries and was immediately knocked out by the Bay Area Dragons in the quarterfinals.

Now they have new blood in Luis Villegas, Keith Datu, and Sherwin Concepcion as well as American import DaJuan Summers.

"I wanna thank everybody for the warm welcome," the former Detroit Pistons player said after he was urged to make a speech. "The welcome I've had here is very warm, not fake, very happy about that."

"Everybody works extremely hard, I appreciate that. Gonna give you guys my best effort always. I came here to win, that's what I came to do," he said, earning a nod from Guiao.

Rain or Shine opens its campaign on Wednesday, November 8, against the Meralco Bolts at 8 p.m.

It will be aired on A2Z, PBA Rush, and the Pilipinas Live app.
