The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters have yet to chalk up a win in four games in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

A lot of experts on social media have postulated their own theories. Some of them specifically pointed out Gabe Norwood electing to dribble back and take a jumper from the foul line instead of going hard for an easy two in the final moments of the Elasto Painters' 107-102 loss to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on Friday.

But it was clear as day for Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao, who thinks  poor rebounding has hurt the Elasto Painters early in the season-opening conference.

“Sa apat na talo namin, apat ‘yung talo namin sa rebounding stats,” said Guiao in an article on the league’s website.

He was spot on. In their first four games, the Elasto Painters were outrebounded by an average of 12.25 rebounds, with Ginebra winning the battle of the boards, 57-42, last Friday.

“It would not have come to that if we only rebounded a little better,” he said.

Guiao is not leaving stones unturned in looking for ways to address that, and one measure he is contemplating in this case is an import change.

“Kung import makakatulong sa amin, then kailangan namin pag-desisyunan 'yung sa import,” said the outspoken mentor.

“Sa locals, wala na kaming magagawa dun sa personnel namin, but we can try to emphasize that in practice,” he added.

And if the Elasto Painters are to notch their first victory, they will have to overcome a tall task—literally and figuratively—as they are set to take on the June Mar Fajardo-led San Miguel Beermen on Wednesday.

Game time is set at 8 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
