With an immaculate 6-0 win-loss record in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Magnolia Hotshots naturally have the target on their backs.

That’s why Chito Victolero keeps reminding his players to work harder as challenges get tougher game in and game out.

“Most of the teams are very motivated to beat us. I need to explain it to my players na every time we step on the floor kailangan namin mag-ready kasi pinaghahandaan talaga kami,” Victolero said after the 105-84 win over Blackwater Bossing at the PhilSports Arena.

Since the PBA on Tour, the Hotshots have been on a roll. And they don’t have any plans of stopping.

And this is definitely not the time to be slacking off, as the Hotshots will go up against the San Miguel Beermen on Sunday.

Even though SMB superstar June Mar Fajardo is sidelined by a hand injury, there’s no doubt in Victolero’s mind it will be tough for them to beat them.

“There’s no advantage against San Miguel because their first group, equal ‘yung talent sa second and third groups nila,” he said.

“Maybe wala si June Mar, but they have Mo Tautuaa, Rodney Brondial, and the other guards who are ready to step up especially their import who has been playing really well.” Good thing they have more time to prepare for the upcoming titanic battle which kicks off at 6:15 p.m. at the same venue.

“We need to stay focused and locked in for the next three days in our preparation so we have a good showing this Sunday against San Miguel,” he said.
