Even without Mikey Williams, the TNT Tropang Giga remain a formidable group. But with the high-scoring guard on board, coach Jojo Lastimosa’s crew turns into an entirely different monster. A much scarier one, of course.
That’s why the contract dispute that led to the two-time Finals MVP’s absence in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup has been a bummer. The fans, the franchise, and Williams himself are all on the losing end of the murky scenario. TNT already terminated the prolific playmaker's contract last month.
But hey, TNT’s enigmatic star posted an Instagram Story on Monday that could be viewed by some as the light at the end of the tunnel.
It showed him working out in a gym with a couple of training partners. Particularly, they were trying to defend Williams as he was sharpening his pull-up jumper.
"1% better," he wrote as caption.
The short clip ended with the 2021 PBA Rookie of the Year hitting nothing but the bottom of the net.
Was the post a teaser of what’s next for Mikey? Was it a flex, saying that he hasn’t lost his touch? Was it him, asking TNT to reconsider? Was it an audition video for other PBA teams?
It could be anything, really. Especially with various rumors swirling around. But most definitely, TNT fans are hoping that it’s a prelude to Williams’ return to the Tropang Giga. They already have a couple of chips in their two-year partnership. So, why not run it back?

TNT is currently seventh in the standings with a 2-3 card. A reunion with Williams will definitely help in improving that.
