San Miguel may have a “Death 15” but only five can play on the court at any given time. Naturally, sacrifices have to be made on a team as loaded as the Beermen.

Thankfully, San Miguel has players who are more than willing to do that for the better of the team.

Players like Jeron Teng, for example.

“Actually coming into games, I have no expectations if I'm gonna play or not. Pero of course, as a player, I just have to always be ready,” Teng said.

“You know, whenever my number is called, I really have to contribute and try to help. That's what I did. I just stayed ready the whole game and thankfully, I was given the minutes. Kahit paano nakalaro naman ako,” he added.

Since coming over from Converge, Teng has only appeared in five games. An injury that derailed his conference certainly didn’t help.

But on his fifth game as a Beerman, in Game 2 against Ginebra in the Commissioner’s Cup semifinals, Jeron provided some quality minutes, scoring seven points and dishing out two assists to contribute to San Miguel taking a commanding 2-0 lead.

“It's just that my mindset every game is to always be ready. Kahit konting minutes lang yan it doesn't matter. I'm just really gonna give my best and you know, we're contending for a championship here eh,” he said.

“And I think from player 1 to 15 or 16, it's really important so we just have to embrace it and play as a team,” Jeron added.

His family legacy means a lot to Jeron, and it’s a part why he chose to come to San Miguel as a free agent.

His father Alvin was a decorated Beerman, and Jeron is trying to embrace fighting for titles in a San Miguel uniform, the same as his old man.

“Every time I wear and represent San Miguel, it means a lot to me dahil not only playing as Jeron Teng but I feel like I always carry my dad's name and he played for San Miguel for a very long time and won multiple championships,” Jeron said.

“I’m sure every time he watches me, I make him proud, he's happy, nakakataba ng puso knowing that,” he added.
