As Meralco finally broke through to win its first PBA championship, a familiar face joined in on the celebration.

“Meralco Man” Allen Durham himself took to social media to congratulate the Bolts after an electric six-game finish to win the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup at the expense of erstwhile champion San Miguel.

Of course, Durham was Meralco’s longtime reinforcement, winning three PBA Best Import awards during his time as a Bolt.

Durham also led the Bolts to their first PBA Finals appearance in the Governors’ Cup. Unfortunately, that conference also started the many heartbreaks Meralco had to endure before this first taste of victory.

Including the 2016 Governors’ Cup, Meralco made three Finals with Durham. The Bolts lost all three to Ginebra.

Despite leaving the team after the 2019 Governors’ Cup, the bond between Durham and Meralco is still obviously strong, a relationship forged through many hard-fought battles.

Away from the team, Durham also found his own redemption, winning his championship in the B.League with the Ryukyu Golden Kings in 2023.

With his Japan contract expired, could a reunion be on the books for PBA Season 49?
