The legendary tale of Justin Brownlee lives on.

Brownlee put on a night to remember and dropped a career-high 51 points, spearheading Barangay Ginebra San Miguel to their first win at expense of the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup action.

And in a typical Justin Bronwlee fashion, the resident Ginebra import downplayed his career night.

“We won the game, that's all that really matters,” the six-time PBA champion spoke to the media in the aftermath of Brgy. Ginebra’s bounce-back win.

“The intention is just to try to do whatever [it takes] to win the game.”

And Brownlee did just that, scoring 35 points alone in the second half to go along with 13 rebounds, six steals and five dimes in almost 43 minutes of action.

But the 36-year-old credited his teammates for a much-needed victory that finally put the squad into the winning column.

“My teammates did a great job of giving me open shots, of giving me the ball in comfortable areas,” Brownlee said. “They got a lot of trust in me so I just try to go out there and stay aggressive and try to help the team as much as I can.”

Brownlee also savored his match-up with counterpart Jordan Adams, who finished with a team-high 23 points, and against the Beermen in general.

“Jordan Adams is an incredible player. He’s got a great resume and he played in the NBA and pretty much all over the world.”

“I gave him a lot of respect and I respect his game. It’s a fun match-up. Got to give a lot of credit to San Miguel. They played us tough as always.”

Brgy. Ginebra aims to build off their winning momentum as they face the still winless Blackwater Bossing on Friday, August 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
