The PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup is in full swing, and the team standings are finally taking shape for both Pool A and Pool B.

However, one thing is getting more and more certain by the games: defending champion TNT and Meralco are surging.

Both teams have shared the Pool A lead with identical 5-1 records, with Meralco initially claiming solo first due to scheduling, before TNT simply just matching the Bolts in wins.

This past week, the Tropang Giga added another two wins to their tally, including avenging their lone loss to Converge.

Meanwhile, the Bolts are currently the hottest team in the PBA with four-straight wins, with Meralco taking down Converge and Magnolia last week.

In Pool B, competition is tighter with four teams having three wins each.

The clear leader is Rain or Shine, who opened the season with four straight victories. The Elasto Painters would have made it five, but June Mar Fajardo had something to say about it.

Before a new week in the PBA opens, here’s how the Governors’ Cup standings are, as of September 9.
