On a night he reached a milestone, Marcio Lassiter helped San Miguel avenge its first-round loss to NLEX through a 119-114 victory in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup on Wednesday, September 11.

The Beermen thus followed up on its triumph against Rain or Shine in its last outing to join streaking Ginebra at No. 2 in Group B with their identical 4-2 marks.

Lassiter canned four triples, including the one at the 6:50 mark of the fourth that allowed him to leapfrog league great Allan Caidic for solo second in the list of most three-pointers made with 1243.

He finished with 17 points.

While the spotlight was on Lassiter, CJ Perez, Don Trollano, and Jericho Cruz also had their moment to shine as they put the finishing touches to the win despite new import Sheldon Mac only coming up with a measly 16 points.

After Robert Bolick moved the Road Warriors to within two, 109-111, on a finger roll off a spin past Mo Tautuaa with still 3:05 left to play, Trollano responded with a baseline turnaround jumper followed by Cruz’s one-hander for a 115-109 separation.

Michael Miranda and Bolick refused to fold for NLEX, with the latter sinking two free throws with 19.5 ticks for the Road Warriors to close in anew at 114-117.

But Perez then stopped the Road Warriors on their tracks with a pair of shots from the foul line almost two seconds later.
