Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel and the San Miguel Beermen collide on Sunday, September 15, in a PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup match that has Group B’s top spot on the line.

The match starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Gin Kings and the Beermen are currently in a three-team logjam at no. 1 with idle Rain or Shine, sporting identical 5-2 win-loss records.

The winner in Sunday’s tussle will take solo lead in the group as action continues to intensify in the final stretch of the elimination round.

Ginebra is looking to chalk up a fifth-straight victory, but will have to do it without big man Isaac Go.

Go hurt his knee after contesting Felix Lemetti’s three-pointer in the opening salvo of Ginebra’s 124-102 win over Rain or Shine in their previous game.

Ginebra coach Tim Cone is looking at Raymond Aguilar and Ben Adamos to fill the gaping hole left by the former Ateneo star.

“Raymond I think could play some valuable minutes. He nows our system, he knows what we do, he’s a physical type player, so he could play a role for us,” Cone said.

“Ben is still trying to find his way a little bit but we think he can step in as well. Not as well as Isaac can at this point but if we need him to step in we think we can get some valuable minutes for him.”

The Beermen, on the other hand, reactivated import Jordan Adams after initially replacing him with Sheldon Mac.

Mac had an underwhelming 16-point performance in a win against NLEX, prompting management to make a U-turn and bring back Adams.

In his return, Adams proved he’s the right man for the job with a tour-de-force 49-point outing in a 139-127 win over Phoenix.

“I just had to stay ready. They told me to stay ready, you never know what will happen,” Adams said.

“So that’s my job as professional, stay in the gym and stay ready for my name to be called.”

Meanwhile, the Fuel Masters sill seek a breakthrough win after seven tries when they tangle with Blackwater.

Phoenix and the Bossing (3-4) will open the double-header at 5:00 p.m. at the Big Dome.
