San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent had little to say about the deflating loss in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup semifinals.
San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent refused to make any excuses in the aftermath of a 122-105 loss to Ginebra in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup semifinal curtain-raiser on Wednesday, October 9.
Though his team is coming off a gruelling best-of-five quarterfinal showdown against Converge that went the distance, Gallent reiterated fatigue had nothing to do in the loss at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The Beermen, whose hectic schedule also included a loss to Suwon KT Sonicboom in the East Asia Super League on October 2 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, had two days worth of rest between Game 5 of the quarterfinals and the semis opener.
“Not the reason (fatigue). Kasi nag-rest naman kaming dalawang araw. Not the reason at all na pagod sila,” said Gallent after the match at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Things started falling apart for the Beermen when Justin Brownlee heated up in the third period.
Brownlee dropped 20 of his 33 points in a furious 34-20 penultimate period. There was simply nothing the Beermen could do that made a dent from there.

Asked what spelled doom for the Beermen, Gallent kept it simple, saying it all boiled down to effort.
“It’s just that walang effort and walang discipline on defense,” he added. “No discipline on defense and no patience on offense.”
That’s what Gallent and his charges need to address in time for Game 2 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday, October 11.
Tipoff is at 7:30pm.
