After absorbing an inadvertent hit in Magnolia's opening assignment against Blackwater, Calvin Abueva sits out the Hotshots' second match on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Calvin Abueva is sitting out Magnolia’s game against Converge in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday, Dec. 1.
According to courtside reporter Belle Gregorio, Abueva can still feel stiffness on the right side of his neck three days after his scary fall during the Hotshots' first match against Blackwater last Thursday, Nov. 28.
Abueva was on the receiving end of an inadvertent elbow from the Bossing's Sedrick Barefield early in the second period of that game, leaving him sprawled on the floor for a few minutes.
The tough forward had to be stretchered off and rushed to the hospital promptly. It was initially diagnosed as neck spasms.

Fortunately, it was nothing severe after the CT scan showed negative results. He was discharged the same night.
Abueva will undergo another checkup on Monday, Dec. 2, in hopes that he will already be cleared to play in the Hotshots' next game against NorthPort on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Match kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
