LIST: Top local performers so far in PBA Commissioner’s Cup

Though most of the spotlight are on the reinforcements, local players have also stepped up day in and day out for their respective teams in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup.

Here are the top local performers in the mid-season tournament so far:

Best Scorer - Arvin Tolentino

Arvin Tolentino has become a bona fide star and scorer for NorthPort.

In leading the Batang Pier to a 6-1 win-loss record, Tolentino has averaged 24.71 points. It’s not surprising for someone who dropped 51 points against Converge last conference.

In the top 15 top scorers in the league right now, Tolentino is the only local player at 12th.

Top Rebounder - June Mar Fajardo

June Mar Fajardo has once again imposed his size in the paint, even in a conference that doesn’t have a height ceiling for import.

The San Miguel superstar and eight-time PBA MVP has collared 85 rebounds in just five games to average 17.0 per game.

He is third overall behind NLEX hulking import Mike Watkins (23.5) and Eastern reinforcement Chris McLaughlin (18.5).

Top Playmaker - Robert Bolick

It was a close battle between NLEX star Robert Bolick and Ginebra’s own Scottie Thompson.

But so far, it was Bolick, the reigning PBA Scoring Champion, who leads the league in assists with 7.67 per outing in six games.

Thompson averaged 7.33 while Jordan Heading of Converge has normed 6.75 in eight games.

Leader in Steals - Joshua Munzon

Technically, Jayson Castro is atop the list but only played one game so far with three steals.

So the honor must go to NorthPort’s Joshua Munzon, whose defensive prowess has been in full display this conference with 17 steals in seven games (2.43 per game).

Top Shot Blocker - William Navarro

We’re including players who saw action at least four times this conference so the nod goes to NorthPort’s William Navarro.

The Batang Pier swatted nine shots in seven games to average 1.29 per game.
