As their veteran leader sustained a patellar tendon tear in Game 2 of the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup semifinals, Nambatac also said that he would turn the heavy burden on his shoulders into motivation instead, and it showed as he shone for TNT in its best-of-seven battle for the crown with Ginebra.

He was rewarded with the Finals Most Valuable Player honors Friday, March 28, as he helped lift the Tropang Giga to an 87-83 overtime victory over the Gin Kings in Game 7 that handed them their second straight trophy and 11th overall.
The former Letran star averaged 19.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.0 steals in the series.
