Chain messages with mushy quotes and cheesy lines have been a thing since analog phones. For sure, a lot of Filipinos have encountered these messages way back from text clans to the current online meme format.
Sometime in 2021 one of these quote texts reached Black Mamba-Army Lady Troopers opposite hitter Jovelyn Gonzaga, courtesy of her friend Cignal HD Spikers ace Rachel Anne Daquis.
In a throwback story, Gonzaga shared the lengthy message.
An excerpt from it said, "Sabi nila, 'mahal kita, pero hindi sapat.' Sabi ko, 'sapat nang mahal kita.'" Obviously, a form of cheesy text chain meant as joke.
Laughing at the message, made Gonzaga tried to recall the context of that conversation, and asked Daquis, "Ano ba topic natin dito?"
Maybe the two superstars just like sharing memes, just like the rest of the nation. After all they're still very close friends having played together in RC Cola-Army Troopers and Cignal from 2016 to 2020.
